Graduation Cairns 2016
Graduation Cairns 2016. November saw the first of our graduations for 2016. It was fabulous to see our Certificate II and Certificate III students graduate at Rydges Esplanade Cairns. The ballroom was a mass of purple and silver sashes with black gowns and mortar boards. Purple sashes represented Certificate II graduates and silver sashes represented our Certificate III graduates.
Family, friends and school teachers attended the graduation to celebrate, and of course to take photos. Some students are now heading off to further study, or for employment opportunities, in other parts of Australia; and others are heading overseas. We are looking forward to welcoming many of this year’s graduates back to Sejumi in 2017 to complete a gap year with us and moving forward to the 2017 Double Diploma program.
We’ve watched many students graduate over the years. It’s always interesting to hear how they’re going since leaving us. Did they follow their dreams? Was there a new path to discover? What unexpected opportunities arose?
For us, it’s a time of reflection, as we watch these young people heading off into the unknown. Some of them are nervous and others more confident. We also recall the frustrations; the highlights; the laughter and the tears – and that’s only ours! Never work with children and animals they say. However, I think we can all truly say that when we see the students graduating with their huge smiles and with that sense of accomplishment, it makes it all worth while – every step of the way.
Once again, from all of us at Sejumi, we wish all our graduates the best for their future and we hope to see them all again, and hear all about the next part of their journey.
